The 2.4mR is a single-handed keelboat that provides even the most accomplished sailors with a unique opportunity to put their skills to the test. As intricate and demanding as an Etchells or a Dragon—yet without the high maintenance costs or the need for a crew—it also serves as an excellent platform for developing both team and fleet racing skills.

All controls are positioned in front of the sailor, with both hand and foot steering options, making it ideal for adaptive sailing. The class is inclusive, accommodating sailors of any gender, with or without disabilities.

The boat is sailed without a spinnaker, using a whisker pole for the jib.

The 2.4mR is a development class, governed by the 2.4mR Rule, which is closely related to the 12-Metre Rule used in the America’s Cup. As such, its design often resembles that of its larger counterpart. It is one of the few classes with international status, overseen by World Sailing.

The International 2.4mR Class Association (ICA) is the governing body for the International 2.4mR Class, a one-person keelboat sailing class. Its main purpose is to foster the class, coordinate regulations with World Sailing, and promote fair competition, with a focus on inclusive and competitive sailing for people of all abilities.
